Section 01

Purpose of This Document

xPM Solution's Steel Industry Intelligence Platform aggregates, analyzes, and synthesizes findings from hundreds of publicly available and industry-proprietary research sources into an original knowledge architecture. This document exists to:

1. Establish source transparency. Every statistic, percentage, and finding published on our platform is traceable to a documented source. This registry makes that trail explicit and publicly accessible.

2. Define the boundary between original work and cited work. xPM's analytical frameworks, scoring systems, process codification, and synthesis architecture are original intellectual property. The underlying industry statistics are cited from their original publishers with full attribution.

3. Protect all parties. Clear attribution protects the original researchers whose work informs our platform. It protects xPM from misrepresentation claims. And it protects readers who rely on our analysis for business decisions.

Core Principle

Facts are not copyrightable. The finding that "95.5% of construction data goes unused" is a documented industry fact — it belongs to the industry, not to any single publisher. What xPM owns is the synthesis: the pain point framework, the composite scoring methodology, the risk register architecture, and the 17 original deliverable documents that organize these facts into actionable intelligence. We cite sources for facts. We own the system that makes those facts useful.

Section 02

Research Scope & Scale

The xPM Intelligence Platform was built through a systematic, multi-phase research program conducted between 2024 and March 2026. The scope:

8,400+

Data Points Extracted

Raw data points, statistics, findings, and references across 6 thematic area — standards & codes, industry reports, academic research, safety literature, technology analysis, and market intelligence — before deduplication, cross-referencing, and synthesis into xPM deliverables.

17

Original Deliverables Produced

D1 through D17 — each a standalone research deliverable covering a domain of steel construction: pain points, risks, integration, contracts, templates, and more.

268

Unique Pain Points Catalogued

600+ raw pain point mentions across all sources, deduplicated and normalized into 268 unique entries across 8 categories with 5-dimension scoring.

1,266

Individual Risks Mapped

Mapped across 325 steel construction processes from Pre-Construction through Closeout, each rated by severity, likelihood, and control adequacy.

26+

Years Field Experience

The xPM Operations Book — 330+ process codes — represents 26+ years of direct field, fabrication, and project management practice informing the research synthesis.

Section 03

Analytical Framework — Original Work

The following analytical systems are original xPM intellectual property. They were created by xPM Solution and do not reproduce the methodology of any third-party publisher:

Framework
Description
Status
Pain Point Composite Scoring
5-dimension scoring system (Impact · Frequency · Cost · Strategic Importance · Stakeholder Breadth) applied to 268 unique pain points. Deduplication and normalization protocol is xPM original methodology.
xPM Original
Risk Register Architecture
1,266 risks organized across 325 process codes, rated by severity and likelihood. Process code taxonomy (STL-1.1.01 through STL-5.x) is xPM original from the xPM Operations Book.
xPM Original
Stakeholder Impact Matrix
Distribution of pain point density and severity across 8 stakeholder types (FAB · ERE · GC · OWN · EOR · INS · DET · SUP). Matrix construction and weighting methodology is xPM original.
xPM Original
Phase Impact Matrix
Distribution of risks and pain points across construction phases S1–S5 with average impact and density scores per phase. Phase definition and mapping is xPM original.
xPM Original
Contractability Issue Register
139 contractability issues across 10 categories with severity/frequency scoring and xPM process code mapping. Issue identification, categorization, and scoring are xPM original.
xPM Original
Integration Challenge Framework
100 integration challenges across 7 categories mapped to interface types and stakeholder responsibility. Category architecture and scoring are xPM original.
xPM Original
Template Gap Analysis
332 templates catalogued (185 found, 147 gaps identified) against 330 xPM processes. Gap identification methodology and coverage scoring are xPM original.
xPM Original
xPM Operations Book
330+ process codes covering every stage of steel construction — the master process taxonomy underlying all deliverables. 26+ years of field-derived process architecture.

Known Limitations — Active Review

As of March 2026, the following figures in xPM marketing content are under review for source documentation or reframing as projections: (1) specific per-template automation percentages (72%, 85%) — these are xPM projections, not measured outcomes; (2) the AI-Powered RFI Elimination case study card on the hub page — this represents a modeled scenario and is being reframed accordingly. xPM is committed to correcting any instance where a synthesized estimate was presented as a documented result.

Section 04

Attribution Standards

xPM applies the following attribution standards to all published content. These standards are consistent with academic citation practice, U.S. fair use doctrine (17 U.S.C. §107), and FTC substantiation guidelines.

Content Type
Attribution Standard Applied
Status
Named third-party statistics
e.g., "84% digital transformation failure rate"
Cited with source name in marketing content (e.g., "McKinsey"). Full citation — author, title, publisher, year — provided in xPM research deliverables and available upon written request.
Fully Attributed
Industry benchmark ranges
e.g., "10–15% of project value lost to integration failure"
Attributed as "xPM analysis" or "industry benchmark" in marketing content. Derivation methodology documented in corresponding xPM deliverable. Not attributed to a single external source where multiple sources inform the estimate.
xPM Synthesis
xPM research counts
e.g., "139 contractability issues," "332 templates"
Attributed as "xPM analysis of 349 industry source documents." These are counts derived from xPM's own cataloguing work, not figures reproduced from any single third-party source.
xPM Original Count
Projected/estimated figures
e.g., automation potential percentages
Framed as projections or estimates, not documented outcomes. Language such as "estimated," "projected," or "modeled" is applied. These figures are not presented as client case study results.
Projection — Disclosed
Verbatim quotations
Used only for short illustrative passages within fair use limits. Always attributed with author, source, and publication. Not used for competitive displacement of original publications.
Fair Use Applied
Case study outcomes
Case studies sourced from D2 (02-Case-Studies.md) are drawn from published industry literature with attribution. Illustrative scenarios are clearly identified as modeled outcomes, not documented client results.
Source Varies — See D2
